In the interest of overextending myself/contracting shingles, I've started a little side project on Instagram called Escape Toronto. It was born out of trying to hunt down something fun to do outside of the city for my boyfriend's birthday and winding up on government-run tourism sites left unmanned for what seems like decades ("and on the left you'll even catch a glimpse of the Twin Towers!"). The gist is this: day trips, road trips, restaurants and pretty places less than three hours outside of Toronto, all time-stamped—I like to manage expectations, ya know? It's only five days old, but I've already found a ton of hidden-gem Airbnbs, breweries in converted churches, restaurants that aren't owned by O&B, and crazy-beautiful waterfalls (full disclosure: did not know Hamilton had waterfalls last week). Follow along if you'd like, and send any suggestions to email@example.com.
